Winter Workshop Series

Join us for a series of workshops covering a variety of enforcement-related topics, including updates from the NCSBI and DEQ, ordinance and enforcement program development, disaster planning and recovery, case studies, litter prevention, and more. SWANA, NCSWANA, and REHS continuing education units will be available for each workshop.

Program I: Agency Updates

DATE:             Thursday, December 6 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
LOCATION:     Land of Sky Regional Council - 339 New Leicester Hwy 140, Asheville  

This workshop will provide attendees with the latest information pertaining to environmental compliance and enforcement programs, field investigations, changing regulations, and disaster planning and response. Speakers representing a variety of agencies and disciplines will be available to participants - offering new tools and information, discussing current and emerging concerns, addressing audience questions, presenting case studies, and sharing their experiences.

Program II: Ordinance & Enforcement Program Development

DATE:             Thursday, December 13 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
LOCATION:     Western Piedmont Council of Governments - 1880 2nd Avenue NW, Hickory

This workshop will focus on creating a solid waste ordinance that will provide a frameworks on which to build a successful environmental enforcement program. Speakers will present their own experience in developing ordinance provisions tailored to their jurisdictions. Participants will engage with speakers to discuss their specific enforcement needs relating to citizen complaints, illegal dumping and roadside litter, and how to address those needs in their local ordinances.
