Winter Workshop Series

Join us for a series of workshops covering a variety of enforcement-related topics, including updates from the NCSBI and DEQ, ordinance and enforcement program development, disaster planning and recovery, case studies, litter prevention, and more. SWANA, NCSWANA, and REHS continuing education units will be available for each workshop. 

NCSWEOA will be repeating these workshop series across the state. Details about the first two workshops, in Asheville and Hickory, can be found below.

Program II: Ordinance & Enforcement Program Development

DATE:             Thursday, March 14 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
LOCATION:    Randolph Community College Martha Luck Comer Conference Center
629 Industrial Park Avenue, Asheboro

This workshop will focus on creating a solid waste ordinance that will provide a framework on which to build a successful environmental enforcement program. Participants will learn about the parameters of local authority. Speakers will present their own experience in developing ordinance provisions tailored to their jurisdictions. Open discussion will allow participants and speakers to focus on specific enforcement needs related to citizen complaints, illegal dumping and roadside litter, and how to address those needs in their local ordinances. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of your ordinance with you!

Program I: Agency Updates

DATE:             Thursday, March 28 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
LOCATION:    Maxwell Regional Agriculture and Convention Center
3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro

This workshop will provide attendees with the latest information pertaining to environmental compliance and enforcement programs, field investigations, changing regulations, and disaster planning and response. Speakers representing a variety of agencies and disciplines will be available to participants - offering new tools and information, discussing current and emerging concerns, addressing audience questions, presenting case studies, and sharing their experiences.

Registration

Registration is open to NCSWEOA members and non-members. Lunch is included in the registration. 

Workshop     $25 NCSWEOA members

$35 non-members

Registration will close for each workshop the day before.
