2019 Annual Conference October 2-4

The NCSWEOA Conference is set for Wednesday October 2 through Friday, October 4 in Wrightsville Beach. We have a agenda full of interesting case studies and presentations covering ordinance development, litter programs, safe field encounters, disaster debris management, and more. Pre-Conference Workshop, Tuesday, October 1

Local Efforts to Protect the Environment

Kay Lynn Plummer-Hernandez, with the Cape Fear River Watch, Inc., will be joined by other local organizations to share how they are working to address water quality issues, including litter. The afternoon will include a site visit to see their restoration efforts first hand, and participate in a cleanup along the shoreline and waterway. Attendees will have an option to clean up the waterway from a kayak or canoe! Kayaking and canoeing is limited to 17, so register soon.

Continuing education units (CEUs) for NCSWANA and SWANA are available for both the pre-conference workshop and conference. We anticipate receiving REHS CEUs as well and will post them here when they are approved.

Registration must be completed online. Online registration will close on Friday, September 27. Only on-site registrations will be available after that. Conference rates are below. 

Full Conference: $130 NCSWEOA members

$170 non-members

*One-Day Only: $65 NCSWEOA members

*One day registration enables you to attend either Wednesday and Friday OR Thursday. 

You must be a current NCSWEOA member to get the member rate. If you are not sure of your current membership status, log into your account (find the login button at the top left of any page). Hotel Reservations

The conference will be held at the Shell Island Resort in Wrightsville Beach, NC. We have a conference rate of $91 per night, plus taxes and fees. The hotel is located at 2700 North Lumina Avenue. Contact the hotel directly to make a room reservation. Call (910) 344-0888 and request the "North Carolina Solid Waste" conference rate.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY AUGUST 31 TO RECEIVE THE DISCOUNTED RATE

Please note (910) 344-0888 is the Sales Office; you need to book through them to get the discount. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. You should not be charged a daily parking fee but will pay all applicable taxes and the environmental fee.
